  • You forgot one very persistent myth: that salt is bad for your heart whilst in reality a low salt diet can give you an heart attack. A lot of people specially vegans and other health conscious morons and fitness people actually have extreme side effects from their stringent diets. For example you can stop sweating if you have low salt because your body does not want to die it rather wants to overheat than to die from a lack of salt. Specially if you exercise a lot you need plenty of salt, in fact you can't accidentally eat too much salt because you'll feel repulsed by it once you've reached your optimal intake. The lower carb you eat the more salt you'll need because insulin retains salts. Additionally 60% of people lack iodine which is added to some salt and if you don't add iodine to your diet or eat some 5g of iodine added salt additionally to your diet, you'll be deficient. A reason people overeat on salted nuts, chips, saltsticks, fast food etc is oftentimes because they severely lack salt and the body really wants them to eat anything salty. That's why a salted soup tastes so good, that's why nuts without salt are bæ but nuts with salt you'll overeat until they become toxic to you and you get diarrhea or until you covered your salt requirements.

  • I'm a vegetarian cause I don't like the taste of meat. I'm underweight. My grandfather was vegetarian because his father worked in a slaughter house. He was diabetic and overweight. It all depends on calories in v calories out

  • By far the most ridiculous diet I have ever heard was the peanut butter and coffee diet. Literally black coffee and spoonfuls of peanut butter right out of the jar. You spend an entire third of your day shitting and the rest of your day smoking to compensate for the lack of vegetables in your diet. Anyway, thats why my dads teeth fell out.

For example, a healthy female in their 20s can choose to stick to eating a balanced meal based on their income as well as how their metabolism works compared to a male in their 50s whom has gotten to the point where he might have to see a doctor regarding his health due to the medications that they are intaking

    • Depends entirely on where you live. The weak countries have 20-30ml shots, normal ones of course 50-60ml and then there's "Bulgaria or something" where three shots of vodka and a coffee results in four cups of coffee.

Lots of veganism relies heavily on importing and growing crops that are extremely unsustainable, making it arguably just as bad for the environment as everything else. not to mention veganism still encourages destroying environments for farming, which still kills animals, just indirectly

    • @Maui Randall Thats mostly nonsense. Growing plants has been just as destructive as growing livestock, especially because plants need fertile land to grow, animals don't. Vegans don't want less farming? Thats a total oxymoron. Most vegan substitutes are super unsustainable and not nearly as nutritious as meat, because meat is an essential part of our diets. Americans may eat meat in excess, but we are omnivores. Hunting and gathering. The idea that any large food group can be cut from our diets healthily is ridiculous and is nothing but a fad diet. TLDR Veganism isn't sustainable neither is factory farming just eat in moderation

    • @Lilly Pond its a balance. Humans NEED both plants and animals for a healthy diet because we are omnivores. I agree that humans eat way too much meat in America, but meat still has a place in our diets. I agree, cows should be replaced mostly with other more sustainable options like goats sheep or chickens.

    • That's not true lots of food that's imported is vegan because anything that's not meat is vegan. And the fact that farming directly and indirectly kills animals is why vegans want less farming because 80% of our crops go to feed animals who produce way less food than we put in, not to mention the water after we use water to grow the crops to feed them. Grazing land and feed crops is the reason they were burning down the Amazon. Not a vegan by the way these are just basic things about farming plants for food rather than animals. Also I'm pescetarian so if you guys just decide veganism is bad we're the next to go in the crusade of people who eat meat wanting to feel good about themselves.

    • On the one hand you're right; replacing meat with certain vegan/vegetarian substitutes can have a worse impact on the environment than meat itself. However, there are also many ways by which not eating meat can help the environment if done right! Think less land use to feed livestock, less methane produced by cows, etc. After putting in some effort to look up what foods are better for the environment, cutting meat from your diet can still have a positive impact!
